Principal Building Surveyor

UCL is embarking on a 10 year Capital Programme which will see capital investment over the period amounting to around £1.2bn and including the development of a New University Quarter (UCL East) at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.  The scale, variety and complexity of the portfolio are unparalleled in the sector. 

UCL Estates are seeking to make the appointment to the post of Team Leader Asset and Fabric Management within the Facilities and Infrastructure Team.  The Team Leader (Asset and Fabric Management) will manage, direct and advise a team of Surveyors providing services primarily, but not exclusively, to UCL Property portfolio, Schools, departments or geographic zones as appropriate. The postholder will take direct responsibility for management of Building Fabric maintenance, compliance (relating to asbestos management) and operating budget c £2m, with planning of Strategic Maintenance Programme budget of c £15m.

The successful candidate will possess significant experience of leading building fabric maintenance programmes across a large scale estate portfolio, preferably comprising live, high public footfall environments.  You will have proven capability and experience of leading in-house estates professionals (surveyors, technicians etc) as well as external delivery partners and will have the interpersonal and communication skills to operate successfully with a diverse variety of internal and external stakeholders.  Experience of leading maintenance programmes to portfolios in the education, science, health or commercial sectors would be advantageous.
