Chief Estates and Facilities Officer
This post will provide exemplary leadership for the management of the Estates and Facilities services at Basildon and Thurrock University
Hospitals NHS Trust, Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust and Southend University Hospital NHS Trust. The three Trusts are part of the Essex
Success Regime which involves the Trusts working as a single Group in transforming the provision of clinical services across Mid and South
Essex. The Group is led by a single Group Executive Team.
This is a rare opportunity for the right person to make a significant contribution to this hugely ambitious, complex and exciting programme.
The scale of the Group can be gauged by the following:
Inpatient and Day Cases: 251,000, Outpatients: 1.2 million, A&E attendances: 372,000 Combined income: £933m Combined staff: 11,800 wte
Chief Estates and Facilities Officer c.£110,000
Key tasks will include contributing to the development of the system-wide estates strategy, implementing the strategic estates plan within the
Group, developing the three Estates and Facilities services into a single integrated service, overseeing the operational management and
delivery of the capital investment programme and all Estates and Facilities services, and providing professional advice to the Group on all
aspects of Estates and Facilities services.
We are looking for someone who already has extensive experience of managing a large and multi-site Estates and Facilities function and who
has a proven track record of delivering innovative, sustainable, cost-effective and service excellence to end service users. The demands of the
post will require excellent management, communication and influencing skills, together with the necessary resilience to succeed in a
You will be educated to degree level, or equivalent, in an Estates and Facilities related discipline and additionally hold a relevant post-graduate
professional qualification or have equivalent experience. Your ability to advise on the application of NHS Estates Guidance will be essential.
