Facilities Manager (Hard Services)

Permanent 40 hours per week (5 out of 7 days)

Emirates Old Trafford is an award winning conference and events venue, encapsulating high end facilities, customisable space and the finest traditions of modern cricket.

The venue provides an inspirational and unique setting for exhibitions, conferences, meetings, award dinners, parties and concerts, alongside being home to Lancashire County Cricket Club, it is also one of the UK's leading international cricket venues offering facilities not available elsewhere.  The construction and opening of the Hilton Garden Inn Emirates Old Trafford in the summer of 2017 with 150 bedrooms will complement the impressive conference and event facilities already offered.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, this role will be responsible for venue maintenance, major event set up, delivery of small projects, contractor management and also health and safety.


Key Responsibilities

• Ensuring the venue and its facilities are maintained in a safe, reliable, efficient and effective way for all of the diverse and complex uses.

• Assist with the development and implementation of the Club’s Health & Safety and Environmental Policy

• Management of the maintenance team, Identify and record training for maintenance staff and generate recommendations for training to meet current legislation and local site policy.

• Manage the building and maintenance activities on site, develop and monitor CAFM system in conjunction with the Technical Services Manager to ensure efficient workforce and carry out asset condition surveys within critical environments.

• Assist with the delivery of construction projects.

• Strategic identification of short and long term cost saving initiatives.

• Responsible for major event set-up and delivery, working closely with the Events & Projects Managers.

• Management and delivery of the maintenance budget


Knowledge, Experience and Skills 

• Previous facilities management and health & safety experience

• Degree in a building services / FM related subject or HNC, together with appropriate experience working within a Hard Services FM Environment

• Background in sports facilities, entertainment/leisure venues or related sector

• Strong electrical, mechanical and building services background

• Excellent presentation, influencing and motivation skills, with experience of managing multi-skilled teams

• Excellent Knowledge of statutory compliance, current legislation, regulations and standards.

• Ability to prioritise a busy and varied work schedule

• Cost management and budgeting

• Experience of dealing with contractors


A hands-on manager, with the ability to build credibility quickly within an established maintenance/operations team, you will have strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively with diverse and demanding groups.  Strong team work, with good organisation and planning skills and a “can do” attitude, used to being flexible with your working hours, working weekends, and evenings to ensure the delivery of high quality and cost effective facilities solutions.
