Facilities/Site Manager (Manufacturing/Engineering)

About us

Established in 1969, Numatic International has a proven track record in designing cutting-edge cleaning and janitorial products for a multitude of industries from commercial & industrial to consumer. Recognised all over the world for the iconic Henry vacuum cleaner, we design and manufacture all of our products from our impressive production facility for global distribution in Chard, Somerset, a bustling market town in the South West which remains to be an economic hub centred around British manufacturing.

The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Facilities/Site Manager to join the business on a permanent basis based from our headquarters in Chard. In this role, you will assume full accountability for facilities management across the multi-hectare site, incorporating both soft (including security, parking, catering) and hard facilities management which will include property, infrastructure and utilities management (including gas, electricity and water).

In what is a strategic role, your focus will be long-term relating to the buildings and premises of the organisation. With the aim of optimising resources, leading continuous improvement initiatives and waste aligned to the goals of the business, you will ensure regulatory compliance at all times in line with governing schemes such as the Climate Change Agreement, British Plastics Federation and Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS), keeping up to date with any changes and developments to the associated regulations. You will take ownership in managing key projects that fall under the remit of the role and ensure that health and safety, environmental and CDM regulatory requirements and considerations are addressed and effectively managed.

In what will be an extremely varied role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining a budget in relation to facilities needs and expenses, with a view to keep operational costs at a minimum where possible and ensuring the best deal and value for money for the business – whether that is through contract negotiation, effective procurement of utilities (with consultancy support where required) or through effectively managing project teams to ensure that work is completed on time and to budget.

About you

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess demonstrable experience in working in a Facilities/Site Management capacity, ideally within a high-volume, complex manufacturing/engineering environment with an understanding of the associated regulatory requirements (i.e. CCA, ESOS, CRC). It would be highly advantageous if you have a facilities management industry recognised qualification (i.e. BIFM or equivalent) and you should be educated to HND level or higher. You should have demonstrable experience in leading project teams with extensive contract management experience across various soft and hard FM services. A sound knowledge of the upkeep of buildings, grounds, maintenance and structural matters in line with CDM regulations is essential to be considered for this opportunity. Whilst external consultancy support might be available, if you have previous knowledge/experience of procurement of various utilities and their markets it would be beneficial to your application.

It’s just as important that you can work well to your own initiative and with limited supervision, demonstrating a positive and proactive work ethic, operating flexibly to meet the changing demands of the business. You will need to be an articulate communicator with exceptional influencing skills and a natural desire for continuous improvement.

In return, you will have a challenging and rewarding role with a competitive salary and additional benefits, pension contributions, relevant training and opportunities to develop your skills in a constantly changing and growing business.

If you are interested in joining us, please apply today for immediate consideration.
