You should have confident communication skills with the ability to effectively influence others to elicit positive results which ensure the delivery of proactive services that exceed customer expectations and enhance the student experience. It is also vital to ensure that positive working relationships are built with colleagues across a breadth of Academic and Professional Services departments, ensuring visibility across all campuses and associated sites.
This post holder manages a range of campus services which include a large Cleaning Services Team, night time Duty Managers, parking management and contracted transport, security and catering services. The post holder will be expected to have demonstrable experience in at least two of these service delivery areas.
Reporting to the Head of Campus and Residential Services the post will combine practical “hands on” management direction to a variety of staff with planning and significant responsibility for a range of operational facilities. Demonstrable skills and experience to be able to liaise with a range of both internal and external stakeholders are essential, including utilising all forms of communication to contribute to the successful operation of our campuses and associated sites.
You must have proven experience in the tendering of large contracts. You should also have the ability to overcome challenges and make effective decisions in reactive situations in a working environment which also requires keeping abreast of the day-to-day operation across multiple sites.
This is not a 9-5 job, nor will it see the post holder solely based within an office, we are looking for a candidate who can deal effectively with operational matters in a flexible, proactive and customer focused solution based way including staff development, performance and efficiency.
Working hours may vary from time to time depending on operational requirements and University events, including some evenings / weekend work, for which time off in lieu will be given.
