Compliance Officer - Warwickshire - Estates Team - Up to £27,082 - Permanent - Public Sector

You will be working for one of the most impressive estates in Warwickshire. The organisation has a long and rich history and they are very proud of the estate and facilities that are on the site. The estates and facilities department are one of the largest departments in the organisation and they have a very close knit and friendly team spirit, a place where they support one another to ensure the estates function runs well.
Your new role
You will be working as a Building Compliance Officer and will be responsible for all of the statutory compliance across the very varied estates which comprises of a mix of impressive Grade 2 listed buildings, very modern high tech buildings,and a large number of sporting facilities, along with office space and some domestic buildings. You will be responsible for providing technical advice, documentation, record keeping, monitoring a mix of contractors and direct staff to ensure that the estates and facilities department and meeting their statutory compliance obligations. The role will be a mix of 'hands-on' contractor management with associated office time. You will work proactively to establish and maintain a safe environment for all and will ensure the buildings and assets are complaint at all times.
The types of compliance include listed building consent, asbestos management, Legionella management, PAT testing, lifts, boilers & other plant equipment, high access equipment, transport, emergency lighting & gas safe certification. The organisation are committed to supporting and encouraging development of this person and so knowledge on everything above is not essential but a good understanding on a number of these areas will be required.
There is a number of large and exciting capital projects happening on site and this will mean new buildings coming online in the estates team and you will be required to support at both construction and go live phase.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in the role you will need to firstly to be able to fit into the culture of the team. They are very friendly and work as a whole team to get tasks done. You will need to be able to take ownership of the role and the safety of others. You will need to be a good communicator who is able to explain technical language in a way that stakeholders who are not technical will be able to understand and relate to. You will also need to be someone who is a starter finisher for audit purposes.
Next you will need to have a number of technical competencies in the kind of statutory compliance described above, but also an attitude that if you don't know, then how do I find out.
You will be have formal qualifications at either A level, BTEC, C&G or NVQ in Construction related course. Ideally you will be a member of either CIBSE, IMechE, IEE membership, NEBOSH, L8 Legionella.
