A large healthcare organisation is currently looking to appoint an interim Fire Safety Adviser/Manager for a period of 3 months. 

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide professional advice and expertise on fire safety on behalf of the organisation as agreed with the senior team; 
  • Provide and exchange specialist advice to the organisation, internal and external stakeholders, contractors, partners and others parties; 
  • Take the lead on all fire safety activities to establish a strong environment of fire prevention within the Trust; 
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of all Trust fire safety policies and procedures; 
  • Devise and deliver all fire training for staff in all Trust premises, constantly motivating and raising standards by improving instruction, quality and content; 
  • Lead specialist on all fire safety activates providing advice and expertise on all fire safety issues;
  • Advise the Trust Board and senior managers of their responsibilities under fire safety legislation and best practice guidance and all necessary provisions that they must adhere to; 
  • Advise and assist managers in the interpretation and application of the provisions of fire safety legislation and any other mandatory and advisory guidance in respect of fire safety in the premises; 
  • Exchange specialist information and advice with key stakeholders, specialists, contractors, partners and staff at all levels to ensure fire safety compliance and best practice behaviours;
  • Responsible for the development, content, maintenance and updating of the Fire Strategy, all Trust fire safety policies and procedures and monitor that they are being adhered to; 
  • Lead investigations of all fire safety incidents, identifying root causes and ensuring appropriate remedial action is taken, including appropriate reporting to relevant external bodies; 
  • Monitor the general maintenance and building works that might affect the fire
  • safety provisions on the premises, including liaising with Estates personnel
  • and contractors on any work involving the testing, inspection and maintenance of
  • fire equipment, systems and any fire related tasks; 
A successful candidate will have:
  • Extensive experience of fire safety, ideally a professional Qualification in a fire
  • related subject e.g. Confederation of Fire Protection Associations Diploma; 
  • Experience of preparing and delivering training courses related to Fire Safety; 
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Fire safety, Fire risk assessment, Fire
  • legislation and Codes of practice; 
  • Ideally NHS based Fire Safety experience.
