As the Commercial Manager for OCS' Government sector, your aim will be to manage and drive the delivery of all commercial services in our contracts, ensuring consistently elevated levels of performance that meet the contractual obligations to customers and the strategic objectives of the Division.

You will be delivering and exceeding levels of customer service standards, structuring a culture of continuous improvement and building a network of close partnerships with customers, developing strong account management and encouraging multi-level relationships between management teams and customer teams.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing all commercial and business activities associated with contract negotiation and contract management of the MoJ/Home Office contract to support the full FM services we offer and to meet all deadlines
  • Delivering the strategic deliverables to ensure compliance with the contract, protecting the company against risk
  • Managing and coordinating all activities to close out requirements
  • Leading all commercial activities with the client's team, attend meetings, produce reports and carry out negotiations, driving ownership for key client relationships
  • Working with the Operational Managers to ensure the profitable, efficient and safe operations of all elements of the contracts within the remit
  • Interfacing with the performance management team to ensure that we minimise the risk of KPI and SLA performance penalties
  • Retaining existing business along with achieving relevant growth targets
  • Developing the operational and contract management knowledge through training and mentoring
  • Leading a team of commercial assistants to ensure they drive the business forward, building the business reputation
  • Providing consistently elevated levels of performance, meeting and exceeding contractual obligations and strategic objectives

Experience required:

Education/Qualifications

  • Degree level education or equivalent & highly literate and numerate
  • Facilities Management qualifications

Working experience/Personal attributes

  • Extensive experience in commercial management, reporting services over the whole project lifecycle from project inception through design, deployment and project close out
  • Knowledge of soft services and experience in delivery
  • Significant management experience operating within a multi-site / multi-service sector environment
  • Proven track record in delivering effective customer service whilst maintaining appropriate operating margins
  • Experience of delivering successful presentations and contributing to the bidding process
  • Enthusiastic, hardworking, outgoing and confident team player, who takes pride in their work, capable of showing initiative and is able to think quickly and commercially on their feet
  • Proven record of managing, motivating, developing and retaining a dispersed workforce both directly and through others
  • Evidence of having led and achieved business growth
  • Self-motivated, flexible and results orientated with effective inter-personal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload and delegate effectively to direct reports
  • Ability to mentor and develop subordinates, counselling and coaching as necessary
