Operations Manager - Manchester

  • Permanent Role 
  • £40,000 - £50,000 per annum + Car Allowance

 

Aim of Position

  • To report to the Director of Facilities Services
  • To provide exceptional service to both internal and external customers
  • To build, develop and lead a multi-disciplinary team capable of delivering all aspects of building and fabric planned and reactive maintenance and minor works
  • To be a key part of an exciting new division and a growing team
  • Contribute to ensuring a continuous and sustainable flow of business from both new and existing sources
  • To be pivotal to the ongoing growth and success of our facilities services and minor works activities
  • To support Facilities Services business development activities, contribute to the sales effort and build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders

Main Responsibilities

  • To lead upon all departmental operational delivery matters in conjunction with the Director of Facilities Services
  • Implement and develop a supply chain of both material and component suppliers and sub-contractors capable of supporting our continued growth
  • Recruit, establish and develop a team of multi-skilled tradespersons capable of delivering the full range of maintenance solutions
  • Lead from the front, ensuring quality, reliability and passion are at the core of what we deliver
  • Ensure robust, accurate and innovative advice is delivered to clients
  • Liaise with clients and attend site meetings and surveys as required providing estimates
  • Provide cost, programme, safety & buildability advice for both maintenance and minor works projects
  • Undertake site survey’s developing estimates of works required
  • Pro-active – anticipate the requirements of the customer, understand their priorities and work together to achieve shared goals
  • Ensure H&S standards are maintained, and work activities are planned in accordance with relevant legislation
  • Quality conscious – You will be proud of the work you do and of the results the team achieve
  • Ensure timely reporting of performance, risks and opportunities to the Facilities Services Director
  • Monitor costs and profitability of live projects ensuring both the client, senior management and operational teams are updated accordingly
  • To carry out any other duties deemed necessary by the Facilities Services Director to ensure the ongoing success of the company
  • Mentor, develop and support junior colleagues and subordinates – develop a ‘conveyor belt’ of talent via our apprenticeship scheme

Skills Required

  • Demonstrable construction / engineering background and experience
  • Time served experience or applicable qualifications and training
  • Knowledge of all elements of building construction and maintenance
  • Experience of both facilities management and construction across both M&E and fabric disciplines
  • Able to co-ordinate and direct the activities of a growing team
  • Able to develop project estimates in conjunction with the wider Facilities Department
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Willingness to undertake training and continuous development including the implementation of technology
